Star of the Republic Museum

After lunch and playing, we headed over to the museum. The building is in the shape of a star and was very nice inside, although Austin did NOT like the stuffed animals. Although we told him they were pretend and he understood they were not going to come off the display, he would not go near an exhibit with an animal in it. He looked, but much preferred being a few feet away. Luckily, there were only a few of these and just at the beginning of the museum.

Austin and Dad on the observation deck.Austin checking out the steamboat. Austin driving the steamboat. :)On the first floor of the museum, they have a discovery center with toys, hands on exhibits and dress up clothing for children to play with. We spent alot of time in this room just exploring all the neat things.
Austin's trusty steade.
Austin playing with the ball cup.
"I got it!"

Jacob's Ladder - this takes concentration. :)

"Buzz Saw"

The dress up chest had mostly girl things, but Austin liked this hat.I think the best toy/activity here was the foam logs that we used to build a log cabin. So much fun! Austin was telling anyone that ventured into the room that he was building a house.
A few more pictures before we go! All tuckered out, "Dad will you carry me?"
